Work is underway to upgrade a cricket field at Winnipeg’s Assiniboine Park as a means to keep up with the sport’s growth in the community.
The $1.6-million project will include a new natural grass playing surface, new irrigation system and new batting and bowling cages. CTV News reports funding is coming from both Cricket Canada and the Manitoba government.
The park previously had three fields in one, but the upgrade will turn the area into two full size pitches adhering to international standards.
