Support of No Mow May initiative backfires for Barrie, Ont. resident

Letting her lawn grow violates local bylaw

A Barrie, Ont. resident discovered the hard way that No Mow May isn’t universally recognized. The initiative encourages people to let their lawns grow naturally during the month of May to allow pollinators to have an important early season food source. Barrie, however, hasn’t bought into No Mow May and continues to enforce bylaws about how long lawns can get. The resident, who was told her lawn must comply with the municipal ordinance, has shared her story with local media.
