Regina approves plan to replace inadequate Currie Field with new tier-one ballpark
WCBL has threatened city team with suspension from league
July 19, 2024 By Turf & Rec
The City of Regina has agreed to venture into replacing Currie Field with a new tier one ballpark.
Currie Field – home of the Regina Red Sox of the Western Canada Baseball League – no longer meets the standard of the league or Baseball Canada. Its drawbacks include the lack of a visitors’ dressing room and inadequate washroom facilities.
CTV News reports city council has approved a study to seek private donors and sponsors for a new facility.
The WCBL has told the baseball club that if it doesn’t resolve its inadequacies, the Red Sox could face suspension from the league.
