More Saskatoon residents turning to clover lawns due to pollinator benefits

Many have adopted a mix of clover and turfgrass

Clover lawns are becoming increasingly popular in Saskatoon with many residents purposely planting it.

CTV News reports that residents who have opted for clover lawns are doing so because of its benefits to pollinators. Many lawns are a hybrid of clover and turfgrass.

An official from Early’s Farm & Garden Centre told CTV News that a blend of the two cover types is ideal with clover being more resistant to some diseases and grass having greater survivability.

He added, however, that many homeowners are trying to get rid of their clover cover because of its look.
