Montreal poised to ban some pesticides next year for use on city golf courses
Courses have been exempt in bylaw past two years
June 13, 2024 By Turf & Rec
The City of Montreal is looking to ban certain pesticides on its golf courses, beginning next year, after a two-year exemption from a local bylaw,.
CBC News reports that a change in the bylaw will put golf courses in the same position as other city green spaces.
Some products will continue to be exempt, including mecoprop and 2,4-D, but can be used only between April 15 and June 15. Eight city golf courses will be affected by the bylaw change.
