London, Ont.’s parks maintenance crews have been challenged this spring by the season’s wet conditions.
CBC News reports that wet soils and clumping grass have resulted in crews taking longer to mow city parks and boulevards. Saturated grounds have created conditions for mowers to become stuck.
Mowing jobs that normally take two to three hours have been prolonged to five or six hours because of the wet grounds. Clippings have become clumpings.
London reported precipitation amounts in May that were 30 per cent greater than a year ago at the same time.
