Delta, B.C. breaks ground for construction of second artificial turf field at city park

Ground has been broken in Delta, B.C. for the construction of a second artificial turf field at Mackie Park.

The field will replace a gravel area behind Gray Elementary School and will be a full sized for soccer and high school football. The project also includes a drainage system, LED lighting, fencing and bleachers.

The $5-million project is being funded by the B.C. Growing Communities Fund. The field is expected to be ready for play by the spring of 2025.

Anne Kang, B.C. minister of municipal affairs, said the field will help fill the recreational needs of the community’s future generations.
