Nanaimo, B.C.’s growing cricket club has been given a helping hand by the city. A pitch has been reinstalled at the Beban Park fields for the first time in about a dozen years.

NanaimoNewsNOW reports the club has previously played its home games at the Cowichan Cricket and Sports Club at Lake Cowichan, which is specifically meant for cricket.

The project cost about $12,000 and was installed last month over a three-week period.

Nanaimo’s manager of parks operations noted the city fields several requests for sports infrastructure and must weigh requests based on community need.
